User Guide: When a token is Delisted or Renamed

Before you start

  • Delisted = your exchange stops trading the token, usually with separate deadlines for deposits and withdrawals. Some venues later convert leftover balances to a stablecoin, but that is not guaranteed and timing varies. (Binance)

  • Renamed/Migrated = the project changes ticker/contract or redenominates. Some exchanges auto-swap to the new ticker at a published ratio and timeline; others require you to withdraw and perform the swap elsewhere. Example: MKR → SKY at 1:24,000, with set suspension times. (Binance)

  • In SageMaster: nothing to do inside the app—the token is hidden from the Basket view and skipped in rebalancing; the rest of your Basket continues normally.

If a token is DELISTED

What it means (plain English):

Trading halts on your exchange. There’s typically a withdrawal window after trading stops; once that closes, the exchange may end support entirely. Some venues announce potential post-withdrawal conversions to a stablecoin, but only per their policy. Always follow the dates in your exchange’s notice. (Binance)

Action checklist

  • Confirm the official dates

    ☐ Find the exchange announcement.

☐ Note three deadlines: trading stop, deposits stop, withdrawals stop. (Many venues cite a withdrawal grace period—for example, Binance describes withdrawals generally ceasing about three months after delisting.) (Binance)

  • Choose where to move the token

☐ Option A: another exchange that still lists the token.

    ☐ Option B: a self-custody wallet that supports the token’s network.

☐ To discover active venues, check market-listing aggregators (e.g., coinmarketcap.com) and look at the Markets / Market Pairs tab to see exchanges and pairs. (CoinMarketCap)

  • Withdraw safely (if still open)

☐ Match the network exactly on both sides.

☐ Send a small test first, confirm it arrives, then move the remainder.

☐ If moving to another exchange, sell/convert there if you wish.

  • If withdrawals are already closed

☐ Re-read the announcement for any stated conversion plan or next steps.

☐ If none is stated, contact support and monitor updates from the venue. (Binance)

  • Stay safe

☐ Use only official exchange/project pages; beware of phishing during delistings.

☐ Never share seed phrases or 2FA codes; verify sender domains and alerts. (Kraken Support)

  • Keep records

☐ Save the announcement, your withdrawal transaction IDs, and any trades for your own tracking and potential tax reporting.

If a token is RENAMED / MIGRATED (treated like a delist in SageMaster)

What it means (plain English):

A rebrand, contract migration, or redenomination to a new ticker. Exchanges may either auto-swap at a published ratio and timeline, or ask you to withdraw and complete the migration elsewhere. Recent example: Maker MKR to SKY at 1 MKR = 24,000 SKY, with specific suspension and cut-off times. (Binance)

Action checklist

  1. Read the rename/migration notice

☐ Identify the swap ratio, any snapshot time, and when deposits/withdrawals pause or resume. (Binance)

  2. Check your exchange’s handling

☐ If it auto-swaps, note when the new ticker will show in your account—no movement required.

☐ If it does not auto-swap, treat it like a delist: withdraw the old token to a venue or wallet that supports the new asset and follow the project’s process. (support.binance.us)

  3. After the swap

☐ Verify your balance reflects the published ratio.

☐ If you plan to trade, confirm where the new ticker is live (use market-listing aggregators such as coinmarketcap.com and check Markets / Market Pairs). (CoinMarketCap)

  4. Stay safe & keep records

☐ Expect heightened phishing around renames; stick to official channels. (Kraken Support)

☐ Save the announcement and any swap confirmations for your records.

Remember: SageMaster has already removed the affected token from your Basket page and ignores it in rebalancing. Focus your actions on your exchange or wallet; your Basket keeps running.
